Want an authentic German meal and beers in Mainz? Go to Zenz. It's conveniently located by the train station. We went a bit later so it was on the quiet side, easy to get a table. English and German menus are available. The food was delicious. We had the schnitzel and the bratwurst. They did not disappoint. The beer was the perfect addition. It hits different in Germany. Pro tip: stay for dessert. It's delicious.

Such nice service here!!! We came twice during our stay. One night was after the bundesliga game where mainz unexpectedly won 2 to 0 against RB Leipzig. It was busy!!! We did not have a reservation, but they fit us in. So nice. Good food, great drinks and good people. Happy hour is after 2200. Good prices on great mixed drinks!!! I suggest the Touchdown. So yummy

Good service but the drinks during happy hours gets unusually iced leaving only 20% or so drink in the glass. The proximity to HBF means there are drunk people constantly yelling and running in front of you if you're sitting outside. They do have a decent selection of drinks though

Very helpful staff who opened an extra room at a peak period. Attentive to our needs. Help with the menu and lots of good information. Good food in ample portions! Update: yes we found the cheese, as recommended!

Staff is so so, sometimes slow. But everything else is so great. Atmosphere is cozy and interior design is on point. Seasonal menu is always interesting to try. Well designed fixed menu as well. For being next to the main train station, its is a super spot for convenience and a bit of luxury.

The staff were friendly and attentive. Outstanding pork schnitzel, fried potatoes, and riesling. Thank you for making an American feel welcome in Germany!
